Periodontics

Gum Diseases are severe in our country, and gums form the surrounding structure around the tooth hence Periodontics. The word Periodontics comes from the Greek word peri meaning around and Odon's meaning tooth. Literally taken, it means study of that which is "around the tooth".The Department of Periodontics, at our institute is committed for achieving optimal oral health care and high quality, state-of-the-art periodontal treatment. This department aspires to be recognized as one of the best of its class in the country today. Thanks to outstanding educational programs, excellence in patient care and the cutting-edge research. The program includes a diverse schooling in clinical instruction,and patient management.

This illustrious department started its post graduate wing in the year 2006 and it has grown in leaps and bounds. There are 9 postgraduate students, 3 in each batch. The M.D.S. program lasts for a period of 3 years and prepares the novice for certification in the specialty of Periodontics during that time frame, they undergo extensive training in different treatment modalities including flap surgeries, bone grafts etc.

A lot of work in the field of research as well as treatment of various periodontal pathologies has been carried out from time to time and several continuing education lectures are held educating dentist in and around the city. With some of the National Stalwarts in the team in this department it is sure to reach the numero uno some day.
